Marshfield's Off-Season Runs on Two Clocks, One on Main Street and One on Ocean Street

After the beach lots empty, Marshfield's calendar splits in two. One half moves inland to the Marshfield Fairgrounds at 140 Main Street. The other stays on Ocean Street, in a single block that holds a surf shop with a backyard stage and a quarter-acre park. Each end keeps its own hours, and a November or December plan works better once you know which one you're dealing with.

Two schedules that barely overlap

The Fairgrounds runs on Saturday mornings and on evening drive-through slots. Ocean Street runs on late afternoons and early evenings from Thursday through Sunday. Here is how the two compare through the end of the year.

Marshfield Fairgrounds, 140 Main St. Ocean Street
Main draw Winter farmers market; South Shore Celebration of Lights Levitate Backyard; Dandelion Park
Days Market on the third Saturday of the month; light show on set nights Nov 27 to Dec 30 Levitate's restaurant and venue open Thursday through Sunday
Hours Market 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; light show sessions 5 to 9 p.m. Venue 3 to 10 p.m.; Aprés Beach sets usually 5 to 8 p.m.
Format Indoors under the grandstand, or from your car Backyard bar and music venue; small outdoor park
Cost Market is free to browse; light show tickets are sold per vehicle Most sets have no listed ticket; a few shows are ticketed

The light show is the only part of either calendar that runs most nights. Nearly everything else falls between Thursday and Sunday, and the two schedules only line up on a few Saturdays in late November and December.

The Fairgrounds keeps going after the fair

The August fair takes up the most days of the year at 140 Main Street, but the grounds stay busy afterward. The Marshfield Farmers Market shows the change most clearly. From June through September it runs on Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m. From October through May it switches to the third Saturday of each month, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., under the grandstand, which the market describes as "indoors/lightly heated."

That's a weekly afternoon market turning into a monthly morning one, so there are only two chances left this year:

  • Saturday, November 21: Harper and the Minstrel play from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and The Wild Patch of Duxbury gives a free talk on native plants at 10:30 a.m. The market runs rain or shine.
  • Saturday, December 19: Chris Carter plays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The market's 2026–27 vendor map lists Bayberry Farm, Captain Marden's Seafoods, Courage Provisions, Dias & Daughters Farm, Fowl Play Farm & Miss Bee Haven, Summer Dreams Farm and The Wild Patch, among others. The market also posts a separate map for each date showing who will be there in person, so check it before you go looking for a particular farm's table. To get a reminder before each market, text MARSHFIELD to 855-217-0668.

After dark the same grounds host Fiesta Shows' South Shore Celebration of Lights, a drive-through display running November 27 to December 30. You don't enter from Main Street. The gate is Gate E at 62 S. River St. Entry is sold in hourly sessions starting at 5, 6, 7 and 8 p.m., and the last car is admitted at 8:15.

Look at the dates closely, because the show isn't open every night. It opens on the holiday weekend of Friday through Sunday, November 27 to 29. After that the first weeknight is Wednesday, December 2. Monday and Tuesday nights don't start until December 14 and 15. December 24 and 25 are on the schedule as holiday nights.

Fiesta's 2026 prices for a car are $22.99 online and $30 at the gate on weeknights, and $26.99 online and $35 at the gate on weekends and holidays. Larger vehicles cost more. Fiesta also says that if online tickets sell out, no tickets will be sold at the gate. You choose a date, time and vehicle type when you buy, then show the receipt at the entrance on paper or on your phone. Fiesta can change prices and times, so look at the listing again before your night out.

Ocean Street keeps late-afternoon hours

At the other end of town, the calendar starts later in the day. Levitate Backyard at 1871 Ocean St. calls itself a "hometown surf shop, backyard music venue + cantina." The shop is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The restaurant and venue reopened for the season on October 22 and run Thursday through Sunday, 3 to 10 p.m. Levitate files many of its early sets under a series it calls Aprés Beach.

Here is what's on Levitate's calendar from the day this post publishes through the first week of November:

  1. Thursday, October 29: The Elovaters with Emily Brimlow, 7 to 10 p.m., a ticketed show.
  2. Friday, October 30: Maggie & Ry, 5 to 8 p.m.
  3. Saturday, October 31: Steve Rondo and a Halloween Backyard Bash, 5 to 8 p.m., with half-price pizza for anyone in costume and candy for kids.
  4. Sunday, November 1: Eamon Greene, 5 to 8 p.m.
  5. Thursday, November 5: a book launch for Amanda Davis's "Chasing The Light," 6 to 8 p.m.

After that, keep an eye on the events calendar for new dates.

Dandelion Park is a few doors down at 1896 Ocean St. It takes up 0.28 acres, with benches and memorials. According to the Molly Fitzgerald Memorial Fund, the Fund asked the town in 2009 to turn a defunct gas station site into a park, and the Fund dates the dedication to June 9, 2010. The town took the park back at the dedication. The Fund and its volunteers still maintain it, and memorial bricks line the walkways. Through the year it hosts children's story readings in summer, pumpkin carving at Halloween and a tree lighting in December. This fall's free pumpkin carving was on Saturday, October 24.

Where the two calendars meet

Because Ocean Street runs Thursday to Sunday and the Fairgrounds books its daytime events on Saturdays, the two only overlap on a few Saturdays. Those are the easiest days to do both ends of town.

Saturday, November 28. Green Koala lists the Wicked Women Holiday Makers Market at the Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. That evening is the light show's second night, at weekend prices. You can be at the Fairgrounds once in daylight and again after dark.

Saturday, December 5. This is the busiest evening on either calendar. The Molly Fund's annual tree lighting at Dandelion Park starts with entertainment and refreshments at 4 p.m. The Fund lists Santa, carols, hot cocoa and cookies, and the tree is lit at dusk. Across town, Gate E opens for the 5 p.m. light show session that same night. Since the lighting happens at dusk, you can stay for it and still drive to a later session on S. River St.

Saturday, December 19. Chris Carter plays the grandstand market in the morning, and the light show runs one of its last weekend nights.

A few dates elsewhere in town

Two more events happen away from both Main Street and Ocean Street. The Marshfield COA Boosters hold their 13th annual Craft Fair and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Council on Aging, 230 Webster St. Organizers expect more than 70 artisans and ask for a $2 donation at the door. The town's events page lists the Boys & Girls Club Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, from 7 to 10 a.m. That's the day before the light show opens.
